Sunday April 21 is World Day of Prayer for Vocations.  Please join Serra for the 5 pm Sunday evening Mass at Saint Rose & Clement on 111 Long Street in Warwick RI.  Light refreshments will follow.  Below is a prayer for vocations…

Prayer for Priestly Vocations

God our Father, we beg you to stir into flame the call to the priesthood, which you have placed in the hearts of many men. With expectant faith, we pray for a new springtime of priestly vocations. Raise up for us priests according to the Heart of Christ, your Son. We ask your blessing upon each of our seminarians. Grant them the grace of perseverance, and a deep desire to follow Christ with an undivided heart. Bless our Bishops and priests. May they continue to be faithful stewards of your holy mysteries, and through their example, may many men be inspired to follow you as priests. We entrust this prayer to Mary, the Mother of Priests. May she obtain for us priests after the Heart of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Our next Serra meeting will be Monday April 1 at 6:30 pm at Our Lady of Providence Seminary. Please join us. New members are always welcome! One of the items on our agenda will be making plans for a special Mass for World Day of Prayer for Vocations (April 21). Please visit our web site serraprovidence.org for all the latest news.

The Serra Club of Providence is pleased to announce the 2013 Diocese of Providence Vocation Fair to be held at St Mary’s Academy Bay View, 3070 Pawtucket Ave, East Providence, on Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 12pm to 4:00pm. The day will close with Mass celebrated by Bishop Evans.
SCHEDULE
11:45 am Welcome and Blessing
12:00 – 1:00 pm Open Forum
1:00pm – 2:00 pm Panel for Middle and HS students
2:30 – 3:30 pm Panel for Young Adults
4:00 pm Mass for Vocations (Chapel); Celebrant – Most Reverend Bishop Robert Evans, Auxiliary Bishop for the Diocese of Providence.
Based on feedback from evaluations of last year’s attendees, there will be two panels; one for the Middle and High School students, and a second one for young adults. The panels will include representatives from 6 religious communities.
Please note that there are a few changes this year! First, in an effort to keep costs down, we will not be serving lunch, only refreshments. Also, based on feedback from evaluations, we have shortened the time of the fair, and we will END the day with Mass. We think this will make for a better flow of the day!
